Pokémon TCG: Perfect Order — Set Guide, Chase Cards & What to Expect

Perfect Order Is Here#

Perfect Order (German: Optimale Ordnung) is the third expansion in the Mega Evolution series of the Pokémon TCG, released worldwide on March 27, 2026. It is the first main standard set of 2026 — as opposed to the special collection format of Ascended Heroes — and marks the beginning of a new Standard rotation in the game.

The set is based almost entirely on the Japanese expansion Nihil Zero (sometimes called Nullifying Zero) and is thematically centred on Lumiose City from the Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game.

Set Size and Structure#

Perfect Order contains 88 cards in its base set, with secret rares and illustration cards bringing the total to 124. That makes it one of the smaller modern Pokémon sets — comparable in size to the 2017 set Crimson Invasion, which also contained 124 cards.

The set includes:

  • 9 Pokémon ex
  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex (brand new)
  • 25+ Trainer cards
  • 30+ cards with special illustration treatments
  • Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares, and one Mega Hyper Rare
  • Store-exclusive promo cards (Gengar, Luxray, and Aurorus) available with qualifying purchases at select retailers

Prerelease events ran from March 14 to March 22, 2026 at participating Play! Pokémon stores.

The Four New Mega Evolution ex Cards#

The headline cards of Perfect Order are four Mega Evolution Pokémon that are making their Pokémon TCG debut:

Mega Zygarde ex — The cover Pokémon and the set's central chase card. Zygarde in its Complete Forme is one of the most visually striking Legendary designs in the franchise. Its attack mechanic uses coin flips to deal escalating damage across an opponent's board, making it both a collector target and a genuine competitive option in dragon-type decks.

Mega Clefable ex — A Kanto fan favourite receiving its first-ever Mega card. Its Luminous Wing attack specifically counters one-hit knockout strategies, making it a useful tech option in certain matchups.

Mega Starmie ex — Another original 151 Pokémon getting the Mega treatment for the first time. Both Clefable and Starmie have dedicated collector fanbases from the original generation.

Mega Skarmory ex — Features 260 HP and a sniping attack that can deal 220 damage to any of an opponent's Pokémon, making it a versatile attacker in the right deck.

Meowth ex — The Breakout Non-Mega Card#

One of the most discussed cards in Perfect Order is not a Mega Evolution at all. Meowth ex has an ability that lets players search for any Supporter card from their deck — a mechanic that hasn't appeared in the game since Lumineon V, which saw heavy competitive play across multiple formats. Competitive players have flagged Meowth ex as potentially impactful in basic Pokémon decks that can't otherwise run evolution-based consistency engines.

Chase Cards and Current Values#

As of release week, the current market picture for Perfect Order's top cards looks like this:

  • Mega Zygarde ex Mega Hyper Rare — approximately $179 USD, the set's highest-priced card based on early sales. This is notably below Mega Hyper Rare prices for Ascended Heroes, reflecting the relative scarcity difference between a special collection and a standard set.
  • Mega Zygarde ex Special Illustration Rare — approximately $130 USD and trending upward in early listings
  • Meowth ex Special Illustration Rare — similarly priced to the Zygarde SIR, with competitive demand providing additional support
  • Clefairy Illustration Rare — widely described as the set's standout lower-rarity art card, with a Ghibli-influenced aesthetic
  • Jacinthe Special Illustration Rare — a Supporter card featuring a key character from Legends: Z-A, noted as potentially undervalued at release

Pull rates reported from early pack openings suggest roughly 1 in 7 packs contains one of the new Mega ex cards, Illustration Rares appear at approximately 1 in 6 packs, Special Illustration Rares around 1 in 30–40 packs, and the single Mega Hyper Rare is estimated at around 1 in 200 or more packs.

Who Is This Set For#

Players have good reason to buy into Perfect Order. The set lands alongside a Standard format rotation (the H, I, and J regulation marks become legal), so new cards enter a fresh meta. Mega Zygarde ex, Meowth ex, and the new Stadium card featuring Lumiose City all have genuine competitive applications.

Kanto and original 151 collectors will want Mega Clefable ex and Mega Starmie ex specifically — both Pokémon have deep collector fanbases and had never received Mega cards before this set.

Casual collectors looking to open packs without chasing a large master set will find Perfect Order approachable. It is smaller than Ascended Heroes, more widely available at retail, and the pull rates for Illustration Rares are reasonably generous.

Investors should be aware that Perfect Order is a standard set with standard print runs, releasing closely after the large special collection Ascended Heroes. Early market data suggests it will be a calmer set than its predecessor. The Mega Hyper Rare will remain scarce, and competitive demand for Meowth ex and Mega Zygarde ex could provide price support on those specific cards.

Products#

Unlike Ascended Heroes' staggered multi-wave release, all Perfect Order products launched simultaneously on March 27, 2026:

  • Elite Trainer Box — 9 booster packs, full-art Tyrunt promo, accessories, and storage box
  • Booster Bundle — 6 booster packs
  • Booster Display — 36 booster packs

A Pokémon Center exclusive version of the ETB features a stamped variant of the Tyrunt promo.
